about Fran Mora

Huelva, 1979

Born in Huelva in southern Spain in 1979, Fran Mora studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Seville. He explores hidden beauty through objects that have become transparent in everyday life. A bowl of fruit, reduced to its simplest form, manages to bring a fresh and contemplative look. Fran Mora appropriates the most innocuous object of our daily lives but loaded with meaning, as a ritual that punctuates our lives, but also as a symbol of abundance and as a source of a moment of joy. He also describes landscapes encountered during his travels, such as Morocco or Norway. To achieve the nebulous effect and aesthetic grace, Fran Mora mixes layers of plaster and oil on canvas, regularly using paper or canvas. The bright colours associated with neons create a lyrical effect on his canvas. Light is also the means of distilling a tone of serenity that contrasts with the vivid colours used. Fran Mora's paintings are now exhibited in many public and private collections in Spain, such as La Caixa, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Vázquez Díaz, the Museo Infanta Elena, Tomelloso, to name a few.
