After more than a decade of contributing to India's art and cultural landscape through the organisation 'Kalarang' in Delhi, Shaji Punchath launched Gallery 1000A in 2014. This contemporary art gallery promotes diverse artistic practices across multiple platforms. Since its inception, the gallery has participated in over 32 international art fairs, including Busan Art Fair, Gwanju Art Fair, Art Asia (South Korea), Art Dubai, Barcelona Swab Festival and Hong Kong Art Fair, and has established a strong presence in Asia, Europe and the USA.
Gallery 1000A represents leading Indian, European, Korean and Japanese artists and, together with its parent organisation, Kalarang, has become a major force in contemporary Indian art. Founded in 2007 by a group of art enthusiasts, Kalarang has organised 10 national artist camps, 12 national group exhibitions, four solo exhibitions and participated in 16 international art fairs with the support of partners such as the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Indian Ministry of Tourism.
Under the leadership of Shaji Punchath, Kalarang focuses on preserving cultural heritage and nurturing young talent through exhibitions, seminars and collaborations with educational institutions. With a vision to promote global peace through cultural exchange, Kalarang organises international art camps and exhibitions, championing the transformative power of art to raise human consciousness.
