R.S. Babu, born in Trivandrum, obtained a Diploma in Arts from the Trivandrum School of Art in 1974, specialising in creative painting and collage. He was a drawing teacher at Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Trivandrum (1985-2004) and collaborated with the Education Department of the Government of Kerala in illustrating textbooks, including NCERT and Poojappura publications.

He has exhibited his paintings internationally at events such as SWAB Barcelona (2016), Art Busan (2014 and 2016), Gwangju International Art Fair (2014 and 2016) and Art Dubai (2014). Domestically, she participated in exhibitions such as Lalitha Kala Academy Art Exhibition (2012), Worldwide Art Movement (2016) and Art Manthram (2011). His works have also been exhibited in galleries such as Gallery1000a in New Delhi and Arakkal Museum in Kannur.

Awarded the YMCA Award in 1985, he was selected for the prestigious Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
