Art Madrid'26 – Galeria São Mamede

Galeria São Mamede

Lisboa, Portugal

Programa General A12

In the late 1960s, São Mamede Gallery emerged in the heart of Lisbon, in close proximity to Largo do Rato. Housed in a distinguished Pombalian building, it stands almost opposite the Church of São Mamede.

Since its inception, the gallery has championed modernity and the contemporary Portuguese art movement, hosting temporary exhibitions that showcase international artists. Renowned "classic" artists such as Areal, Cesariny, Cruzeiro Seixas, and Julio have consistently contributed to the gallery's vibrant artistic endeavors. Beyond these stalwarts, São Mamede Gallery enthusiastically embraces emerging talents.

In 2005, the gallery expanded its presence to Porto, establishing a second headquarters. Expanding its reach further, a new space in Lisbon was inaugurated in 2018, affirming its commitment to fostering a diverse and dynamic artistic landscape.
