Luis Olaso is a plastic artist, initially self-taught, and later graduated in Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Basque Country, whose work straddles the line between expressionist figuration and abstraction. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums, fairs and galleries all over the world, such as Untitled Miami (USA), JD Malat Gallery in London (UK), Makasiini Contemporary Gallery in Turku (Finland), Cerveira International Art Biennial (Portugal), Mirat Projects Gallery in Madrid, or KUR Gallery in San Sebastian, among others. At the same time, his work forms part of important public and private art foundations and collections, such as Yusaku Maezawa's Contemporary Art Foundation in Tokyo, Stefan Simchowich's SIMCO Foundation, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Luis de Morales de Badajoz, or the Santander Creativa Foundation. His work has been awarded and selected as a finalist in prestigious competitions such as the Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture (2017-2018), the City of Badajoz Painting Prize, the Ibercaja Young Painting Prize, and the Focus International Painting Prize, among others.
