Art Madrid'24 – Fernando Daza
Fernando Daza
Sevilla, 1979
To perform his work, Daza use the handmade torn paper in strip form that later he accumulate in an orderly manner and he lay on canvas, following a compositional scheme that previously he draw with a pencil. It is a work made on canvas, two-dimensional support traditionally used in painting while its character is clearly three-dimensional because of the position of the paper; it is folded and pasted on canvas. Through a zenithal light projection, we obtain a soft contrast between lights and shadows. This is the formal feature most relevant and most distinctive in his artwork. Fernando Daza´s work has a double conceptual origin, one mystic and another concrete, and it involves between the spiritual search of a transcendental experience and the desire to emphasize the material presence as a concrete reality and not as an illusion.
