about Iván Baizán
Oviedo, 1980
Graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and specialist in Engraving and Printing Techniques at the School of Art of Oviedo, this artist has been able to adapt tradition and modernity to an increasingly personal plastic language, where the three-dimensionality belongs to the game between the multiple and the unique.
In his innovative technique we observe the evolution of methacrylate from the uniqueness of space to the multiplicity of graphics. A multiplicity where everything flows, the primary colors emerge and the mixture of the painting harmonizes in the silkscreen. Cosmic bodies, platonic solids endowed with axial and specular symmetries that end and transit towards a multidimensional plane. Several dimensions that now mark the course of a new social paradigm, a new context that generates the new digital identity.
about the artist's works
In Ivan's work, there is a concern for architecture, urbanism, and the interaction of the individual in the environment. By way of illustrated cartographies, the author recreates imaginary spaces with games of perspective, colour lines, volumes, and superimposed layers. They are new landscapes, new occupations of the territory, and new proposals in which the individual is integrated and is made part of a linear, ordered and colourful universe. Iván Baizán felt an early interest in the visual arts. After graduating in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, he completed a Higher Cycle of Engraving and Printing Techniques at the School of Arts in Oviedo. Since then, his career has been linked to work on paper with creative proposals that combine delicate work in innovative formats of artist's book, with unique pieces that explore the confines of drawing and engraving. He has become an artist of reference not only at the regional level but also at the national level. The results obtained in his individual exhibitions, his participation in numerous National Art Fairs and the work with which he faces his creation keep all his drift afloat. He is an artist who has been able to adapt tradition and modernity to an increasingly personal plastic language, where three-dimensionality always arms the game between the multiple and the unique.
