Art Madrid'26 – Virginia Rivas

Virginia Rivas
Madrid, 1981
She works with painting, video, and installation, using these media to explore the relationship between the individual and their environment, and to construct a sociological discourse developed from an intimate sphere. She is interested in the viewer as an active agent—their involvement, interpretation, and interaction with the artwork and the space. She analyzes the social landscape through light, color, and sound, a practice she combines with the workshops and lectures she conducts. She is currently based in Hervás (Cáceres), her hometown, to which she returned in 2014 after a year as an artist and lecturer at the Università delle Liberetà in Udine (Italy) with a Grundtvig Grant.
