Art Madrid'24 – Emilio Pascual

I don't agree with those artists who know too well what they want to do. The painter, faced with the void, before that blank space on the canvas, has no other reference than the dialogue that is established between him and that support. I work without a sketch, without a project... Sitting before the void, before the doubt, is the most important moment, and it will be in the first decision where the entire creation process will begin to be generated. I believe in the practice of painting as a generator of thought, as a generator of knowledge, where reflection is the same practice; “It's not what I want to say, but how I say it.” You have to get inside the work and surely the surprise will arise that excites our conscience, this is authentic creation. Painting is always the unknown, I never know what will come. At this moment, sensitivity, emotion, attitude, feeling... that we can reflect on from reason matter more.
